The other day, I was flipping through old photos when something stopped me.
There I was on the sidelines of a soccer game. Coaching my son’s baseball team. Clapping in the bleachers at a volleyball match. Driving across the state for a math competition.
Those were not just family memories.
They were moments I showed up for because I owned my time.
That is when it clicked.
Time is the most underrated return on business ownership.
The corporate world never gave me that.
I was not asking for miracles, just flexibility. Instead, I got meetings scheduled at 5 PM, denied PTO requests, and a constant tug of war between career and family.
Once I stepped into ownership, everything shifted.
Not because it was easy.
But because I had control.
And that distinction matters.
When people think about starting a business, they usually focus on financial rewards. Revenue. Profit. Long term equity.
But my own journey, and the journeys of the entrepreneurs I work with, reveal a deeper truth.
The most valuable return is time:
Time to be present.
Time to be a parent.
Time to live, not just work.
When my kids were young, I never missed a school event. I was there coaching soccer, helping with baseball, driving to competitions, cheering from the stands.
That kind of freedom is rare in traditional corporate life.
And here is the part most people miss.
You do not have to build something from scratch to get there.
Many assume freedom only comes from inventing your own business from the ground up.
What I have seen as a franchise consultant tells a different story.
Freedom often comes faster when you plug into a proven system.
A franchise gives you a model that already works, support from people who have done it before, and systems that dramatically shorten the learning curve.
You skip years of trial and error and focus on building a business that funds your life, not one that consumes it.
Because success is not just about income.
So here is my question for you.
What would you do with more control over your time?
Would you show up differently for your kids?
Travel more?
Rest more?
Give back in ways you have been postponing?
You cannot go back and change the past. But you can make intentional choices moving forward.
Let’s explore what freedom could look like - grab a time with me here.
In 15 minutes, I’ll help you explore the franchise paths that align with your goals. So you can stop trading time for money, and start building a business that gives you both.
Ever Upward!
